The admission sequence
Check your official result
Use the official portal. A rank alone does not guarantee admission.
Submit programme preferences
Eligible candidates fill their preference form during counselling, after the results.
Review an offer and respond
Read the programme, category, deadline and payment instructions in your offer.
Follow the institute’s joining instructions
Admission remains provisional until the required reporting and original-document verification are completed.
How are seats allocated?
Rank & category
Your IAT rank and applicable category are factors in allocation.
Preferences & vacancies
Your preference order and the seats available in that round also determine the offer.
Counselling is online. Check the application portal yourself for offers and actions; do not treat an unofficial prediction as a result.
Freeze and float: understand the difference.
| Decision | Meaning in the 2026 process |
|---|---|
| Accept & Freeze | Accept the offered seat and stop participating in later allocation rounds. |
| Accept & Float | Accept and remain eligible for a higher listed preference in later rounds. A new higher-preference allotment replaces the earlier one. |
Act in every applicable round. The 2026 rules require participating candidates to confirm the required FLOAT/FREEZE decision each round. Missing an action or payment deadline can end participation. Read the official decision manual before acting.
Seat acceptance fee: 2026
| Category group | SAF |
|---|---|
| General / EWS / OBC / OBC-NCL / PwD / listed Kashmiri categories | ₹35,000, including a ₹10,000 administrative component |
| SC / ST | ₹17,500, including a ₹5,000 administrative component |
Pay only after an offer, in the category stated in the offer letter. SAF is adjusted against the first-semester fee after registration; the full fee structure varies by institute.
Withdrawal and refund amounts depend on the official deadlines and circumstances. Read the complete policy before deciding; do not infer a refund from the administrative-component figures alone.
Read closing ranks in context.
Compare the same year, category, programme and round. A closing rank records what happened in that allocation; it does not promise the same outcome in a later cycle.
2026 status at the review date

The 2027 counselling calendar is not assumed from these dates.
